SUMMARY:2019 BITSAA NA East Coast Meet at Washington DC
DESCRIPTION:BIT Sindri Alumni association of North America had the annual meeting at BK Singh’s (1964 Mechanical) residence in Washington DC on March 30th 2019. In a cozy environment. the meeting started at 1pm with BIT kulgeet.B K Singh extended a warm welcome to all alumni from East Coast.Anil Singh VP and Treasurer. BITSAANA’s presented the latest development taking place in BIT Sindri.Prabht Kumar Sinha mentioned the effort he and his team has been putting to gain the lost glory of BIT and how this can be converted into a National Institute.Entertainment was planned by Sandeep Kumar – we all enjoyed singing and listening to the wonderful karaoke track.The next day. on behalf of Director BIT Sindri. we presented the BIT Distinguished Alum Award to Dr. Yogi Chadda (1957 Mechanical) at his residence in Middletown. Delaware. U.S.A. on March 31. 2019.Anil Singh (1964 Metallurgy). Divyanshu Raj (1991 Metallurgy). Mrs Radha Singh. Smt. Daljit Chadda and Preeti Singh Jain (daughter of Yogi Chadda) were also present during the presentation ceremony.The ceremony started with singing of BIT “Kulgeet”.After the ceremony we all were treated with a home cooked stemptous lunch.Dr. Yogi Chadda appreciated greatly this award. and asked to convey his sincere thanks to Dr Dharmendra Singh and all BIT staff and students. He wished that BIT keeps on this improvement path. and he is sure that BIT will very soon become the top tier technical institute in India. \n\n\n\n	DC2019

SUMMARY:2018 BIT Sindri Houston Chapter Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Houston based BIT alumni. under the auspices of BIT Sindri Alumni association of North America (BITSAANA) had an all day meet intended to bring the Houston folks together. Some 15 alumni along with their families participated in this highly celebrated meet. organized on Saturday. October 27. 2018. The event was convened by Mr. Bal C Trivedi. a 1965 Mechanical graduate and held in the highly furnished conference room at the offices of Dr. Shilpa B. Trivedi. daughter of Bal Trivedi.Mr. Ramesh Yadava. the current President who flew in from San Francisco. Bay Area led the opening moments of the Meeting. and BIT Theme song. He moderated the brief introduction of attending alumni. Dr. Neil Pundit. the President emeritus who flew in from Fort Lauderdale. Florida spearheaded the BITSAANA Membership drive as well as a brief introduction of initiative to recognize the Distinguished Alumni within Houston group. Neil also briefed the group on several milestone achievements at the campus. the faculty. the political brass in Jharkhand government and the able leadership of our current Director. Dr. D. K. Singh.During the lunch break. the group enjoyed the gourmet food prepared by Dr. Shilpa Trivedi. in her kitchen with the help of her mother. Ila Trivedi. The food was both tasteful and highly nourishing. After the lunch break. all highly accomplished lady singers (Ms. Hema Verma. Ms. Richa Saxena. and Others) made the occasion very festive with their acclaimed singing of popular songs. The group assembled outside the conference Room for a group photograph. Mr. Syed Javed Shere took some quality photos that are being posted to commemorate our Meet. Shown in the photographs are alumni and their families as follows: Mr. Binay Anand. DESCRIPTION:BITSAA NA Toronto Area members and their family gathered at The Host an upscale Indian Restaurant located in the heart of Greater Toronto Area. Mississauga. Ontario. Canada for the Annual Meeting 2018. After registration. networking and refreshment the meeting was called to order. A total of 15 Alumni from graduation years spreading over 1961 (Dr. Raj Dubey) to 2016 (Simaab Amir) attended the meeting. Simaab. the youngest member lives in Montreal and came all the way from Montreal. A total of 37 people including spouses. children and special guests were in attendance. Dr. Neil Pandit. President Emeritus . BITSAANA and Dr. Sadhana Prasad (daughter of Late Dr Tribhuwan Prasad. past President of BITSAANA) were special guests on the occasion.After a round of self-introductions Dr. Neil Pandit (1961 ECE) and Ashutosh Dutta (89 Prod) provided updates on campus. BITSAA International and BISAA NA. Members and their family became very impressed as well as nostalgic about the BIT days. seeing some of the pictures from the campus.Mr. Ghazanafar (Ghaz) Khan (86 Civil) past Regional VP. gave a brief introduction of the keynote speaker Mr. Bidhu Shekhar Jha (1962 Mech). Mr Jha inspired the gathering with his talk based on his experiences as a Parliamentarian of Manitoba Legislative Assembly. his public life and some aspects of his business. Mr Jha also accepted the request to sing for the crowd the famous song from the film” Kabuliwala – Aai mere pyare watan ….” Mr. Pranav Nidhi (87 Elect) and Ghaz led the entertainment with some melodious old songs.The group resolved to back Mr. Pranav Nidhi (1987 Elect) for the Regional VP for Canada. Toronto Chapter. Mr. Shree Prakash (86 ECE) gave a vote of thanks for the active participation of all Alumni. spouses and children. SUMMARY:2018 BITS Alumni luncheon get-together in Chicago. IL
DESCRIPTION:Anil (1964 Metallurgy) and Radha Singh participated in the BITS alumni luncheon get together in Chicago on May 20. 2018. This was an effort to revive the dormant Chicago Chapter. Ajit (1969 Civil) and Anju Choudhary were the generous hosts. Mamta Sharma (1995 Production) was  responsible for arranging the meeting. Twenty two people including 10 alumni were in attendance. Ramesh Yadava also joined via web cast. Amongst many things. BITS AA NA activities. and transformative changes taking place at BIT campus were extensively discussed.

SUMMARY:Greater Los Angeles Get-together for Diwali Celebration
DESCRIPTION:Greater Los Angeles Chapter celebrated Diwali by having a Sangeet Bhari Shaam on Saturday. October 21. 2017 in Arcadia. California. Nikita and Sanjay Verma (1990 Civil) were the hosts. Twenty five people (including alumni members and guests) were in attendance. Dr. Kamta Rai sang most of songs. and he was ably supported by Shri Vilas Jadav on tabla. (Rai and Jadav are friends of BITS AA NA). A number of participants also sang. The singing session lasted over two hours. The songs included bhajans. classical/semi classical. gazzals. Bhojpuri. Maithili. Tagore song etc. Food was plentiful including several Diwali specialties. Vermas were wonderful hosts. It was a memorable and fun filled evening. Everyone enjoyed it.Thank you Nikita and Sanjay Verma for being the wonderful host.

DESCRIPTION:BITSAA NA Toronto Area members and their family gathered at Khazana (a restaurant by Celebrity Chef Sanjeev Kapoor). Milton. Ontario. Canada for the Annual Meeting 2017. After an hour of registration. networking and refreshment the meeting was called to order around 12:00 Noon. 15 Alumni from graduation years spreading over 1961 (Dr. Raj Dubey and Mr Mohammed Shamim) to 2016 (Simaab Amir) attended the meeting. Two Alumni members and their family came all the way from Montreal. A total of 41 people including spouse and children were in attendance. The Alumni gave self-introductions and recollected an interesting event from their campus days at BIT Sindri.Mr. Ghazanafar (Ghaz) Khan (86 Civil) Regional VP. gave an update on BITSAA achievements. while Dr. Raj Dubey (61 Civil) gave an update of BITSAA International. Ghaz engaged the audience with trivia (quiz) on BIT facts. During the lunch break Mr. Pranav Nidhi (87 Elect) and Ghaz led the entertainment with some melodious old songs. After a brief lunch break Ashutosh Dutta (89 Prod) led a discussion on “Brain Plasticity – How much; How far” based on some scientific discoveries in the field of neuro science. Dr Anand Vijay Singh led the discussion on the BIT logo. “Niyatam kuro karmatwam” the part of sloka extracted from Chapter 3. verse 8 of Bhagwat Geeta. All the Alumni and attendees felt highly engaged during the discussions.The Alumni group accepted the proposal to meet more often – with a resolve to get together once indoors in winter and once outdoors in Spring of 2018. Mr. Jawaid Samdani (80 Met) gave a vote of thanks for the active participation of all Alumni. spouses and children. SUMMARY:2017 Alumni Meet in DC Area
DESCRIPTION:This was the first ever Alumni meet in the DC capital region and was held on April 1st. 2017 at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Braj K Singh in Potomac. MD. In attendance were alumni from 1960s. 70s. 80s. and 90s. There were about 30 people including spouses and children. The food was catered by Mr. and Mrs. Singh. Each alumni was asked to contribute  a nominal amount to defray the cost of the lunch and other expenses. The entire amount collected was however later donated by Mr. Braj K Singh to the Alumni Association of North America. Mr. and Mrs. Singh were gracious hosts for the day and started the afternoon meeting with a social hour serving appetizers and complimentary beverages from their bar. The social hour continued with a catered lunch. informal discussions with an open agenda. memoirs from the past as narrated by alumni members. and an impromptu music program by some talented alumni members. their spouses. and children. The get together adjourned at 5: 30  PM. Mrs. Divy Raj. the secretary of the alumni association was also present and brought BITS banners and handouts to make this a memorable event. A consensus was reached that such gatherings even at the social level are goodwill missions for the BITS alumni association and these get-togethers spread the feelings of close knit family in a land far away from the alma mater.Thanks to Mr. Taneja for providing gift boxes of mango rasmalai and milk cake for everyone to take home. SUMMARY:2017 Greater Los Angeles Chapter Holi Milan
DESCRIPTION:Greater Los Angeles chapter had a holi hangama party on March 4. 2017 at Anju ji and Alakh Singh (1977 Civil) house in Placentia. California. They were very generous hosts. Thirty. including members. spouses and guests joined the party. The youngest one being Archana Jha (2012 CS) with her husband. Ajay Ahuja also came from San Diego. (They just got married a couple of months ago).The party included 2.5 hours of non-stop holi songs from all parts of India including from Braj Bhumi. Awadh. Bhojpur and Mithiia. The songs were very well augmented by harrmonium played by Dr. (Prof) Kamata Rai and another guest Shri Vilas Jadav on tabla. Both of them are our friends. and are regarded as the best nonprofessional singer/performer in Southern California. Dr. Rai sang majority of songs with help from in house singers. Radha Singh. Manisha Vatsa. Archna Jha. Brameshwar Rai. Anju Singh and Alakh Singh.Thanks to our hosts. Anju and Alakh there was food galore including traditional. and holi must like malpua. gujia. goat meat. pakora and dahi bada.  Everybody enjoyed the fun filled evening. and will remember this special hoil blast for yers to come.Happy Holi..Please find the photos at below link.https://goo.gl/photos/xDZ5X1zHuVNVBT789

With all of us working together we can make it.\n \n \nInput: \n \n1: Mr Ranjit Sinha: The Infrastructure % amount should be higher\nAt this time all the infrastructure expenses are supported by Jharkhand Government. So the suggestion is to support projects which are not in the list of government eg Special Lab equipment based on need defined by individual labs at campus.\n \n2: Dr Neil Pundit: Currently all the alumni meet run in deficit. create program that they are self sustaining. \n \nFYI Only Presented in last board meeting:\nLet us keep on discussing the fund sources and distribution\n1: 50% of the membership dues should go towards Scholarship Funds (US and Campus)\n2: 25 % of the membership dues should go towards infrastructure support at campus\n3: 5%  of the membership dues should go towards the reserve funds\n4: 5%  of the membership dues should go towards special projects\n5: 15%  of the membership dues should go towards expenses \n \nIn addition a scholarship donation button should be added for members to donate. \n \nWith above proposal every member becomes a donor for scholarship/Campus Infrastructure/special projects etc.\n \nBased on this and historical membership collection over last 3 years come up with budget of organization.\n \nYour inputs are most welcome

SUMMARY:2016 Greater Los Angeles Get-together at Pasadena. CA
DESCRIPTION:Members of BITS Los Angeles Chapter had a fun filled get together evening at Anil and Radha Singh house in Pasadena California on Saturday. October 15. 2016. Twenty guests including nine BITS members were present. Everybody had a great time that included lots of Bihari style foods and deserts. songs and jokes. The highlight of the evening was the Hindi filmy song recognition completion between teams of Jharia Queens and Dhanbad Kings. The winner was Jharia Queens. In additions. there were discussions about the status of infrastructure improvement projects and faculty recruitment at BITS. and 2017 West Coast Annual Meeting of BITS AA of NA.

SUMMARY:2016 Alumni Meet in Toronto. Canada
DESCRIPTION:Toronto Chapter organised their 2016 annual meet on Sunday. September 25 at Tandoori Flame in Brampton. The turn up was amazing having about fifty people including alumni their families and guests. The chapter continued the tradition of honouring the senior most alumni by the most junior and this time Dr. Raj Dubey. a 1961 pass out was honoured by Simab Amir who is a 2016 pass out. bridging a gap of 55 years. Ghaz. VP. Toronto Chapter gave a power point presentation on achievements and goals of BITSAA. Children were kept busy with drawing and other activities by volunteers and the best three were awarded. Volunteers were distributed Certificates of Appreciation by Dr. Raj Dubey and Dr. Anand Singh.
